About the Authors

Dewayne J. Johnson is Professor in the Department of Movement Science and Physical Education at Florida State University in Tallahassee. Before coming to Florida State, Dewayne taught for four years at George Peabody College in Nashville. he received his B.S. from Southern State College in South Dakota, his M.P.E. from Idaho State University, and his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University.

Robert Oliver is currently the Legislative Services Director for the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Bob holds a Ph.D. from George Peabody College. His previous positions include Athletic Director at University of Northern Colorado at Greeley, Athletic Director at Slippery Rock State College in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, Instructor of Physical Education and Assistant Basketball Coat at Western Carolina University at George Peabody College and Chairman and Director of Athletics at Newberry College in South Carolina.
