This laboratory manual has now been used a number of years in
conjunction with the introductory courses offered at Texas State
University. The original edition of 1956 was printed from mimeographed
exercises that had been laboratory tested for several years. The
1966 edition
was a single manual composed of both Botany and Zoology exercises.
In 1968 the 1966 edition was revised and illustrations were added.
Topical arrangement of the exercises was unaltered.
The 1973
editions established separate General Botany and General Zoology
manuals. The Botany exercises have been extensively revised in
the present edition. The illustrations and contents have been
updated and the lengths of the exercises altered to better coordinate
with our present introductory curriculum.
