THE AUTHORS
Melody
Yarbrough Knight received a Ph.D. in Health from
Texas A&M University in College Station. She has done research
in the areas of obesity, osteoporosis, sexual behavior and alternative
medicine. She has published articles in a number of professional
journals and is the author of an aerobic exercise textbook and
a Health teaching manual. She is currently an Associate Professor
of Health at Texas A&M University - Kingsville in Kingsville,
Texas.
John P. Monhollon is a family practice
phsician in Palmeto, Florida. Though he treats illness and disease,
his main interest and passion is in disease prevention especially
through proper nutrition. It is his belief that what we eat is
not only essential for preventing disease, but also the primary
contributor to optimal health and vitality. To this end, Dr. Monhollon
contributed the chapters on nutrition for this textbook. Eating
right can begin at any age. Masking the right choices is up to
the individual.
Hanes Segler is the author of three
novels set in Texas. His literary expertise was used to make this
book highly readable and easy to understand — especially
for the beginning college freshman with little background in the
field of health. His background and experience in the areas of
safety in high adventure situations allowed him to contributre
the chapter on making healthy choices in the area of safety.
