Creative Movement Activities for Preschoolers is a creative and tactical approach to a successful movement program for preschoolers. It begins with an overview of movement education describing movement and activities philosophically subdivided into motor skills, sport skills, creative activities and fitness activities This book shows how a successful movement program provides a variety of motor activities that enable the participants to grow physically, emotionally and mentally. The authors show that as children move through critical learning periods, their growth and maturation can be maximized by a movement program which enhances all three domains. Several types of classification of motor skills are discussed as the authors show how to integrate each with preschool activities. This book is a guide for teachers and caregivers in helping young children master the fundamental movement patterns. Basic movement terms are defined. The activities are presented alphabetically and then listed again in the index by complexity and by movement type. There is also a chapter on songs and chants. The rationale, materials needed, construction, teaching techniques and options are given for each activity. Photographs and diagrams are also used.
